  1. So non of these are easy, quick nor simple.

Step one – be a chef
Step two – have a lot of spare time
    Step three – ???

Are you for real with this shit?

  2. So I've learned that 5 minute prep and 5 minutes until food is on your plate, are not that same thing.

  3. Thanks again. Love your practical cooking, and that you picked in season ingredients, and I so appreciate the google doc.

  4. Hi Mike I love your channel! You often mention meals that are good for feeding kids, and I would love it if you would do another one – specifically cooking for kids around 1 year old. I'm finding the age where my baby has teeth but no MOLARS a bit tricky. He loves texture, but chewing often frustrates him and he'll give up after only half a meal. We have the additional complication of mild eczema, so "just let your baby get messy!" with pasta and sauce or purees isn't always our solution because excessive cleaning will irritate his skin.

Anyways, would love it if you'd take a trip down memory lane and let us all know what worked well for you for babies with some teeth… but not all their teeth 🙂

  5. I feel like there are a lot of things like cleaning after prep, washing veggies etc that clearly isn't included in the 5 minutes.
I think it would've been fine to make it the 15-Minute or 20-Minute System and just add the time you used to prep beforehand and clean afterwards, obviously you don't need to show that in the video.
But I get it's for the title and thumbnail, clearly it worked, but a lot of the comments I saw agree that it was kind of misleading.

  6. awesome recepies as always but nnone of it is in 5 min because of cooking time. and btw, yoghurt iss Turkish

  7. Can you tell me where you got your oil sprayer? And also the tape/sharpie fridge magnet? I know you mentioned it in a video before, but I can’t find it!

  8. The comment section is a disappointing mix of entitlement attitude ("why isn't he cooking vegetarian/vegan?") and learned helplessness ("I can't cook like this, so this is false advertising!"), and I'm starting to wonder what it'd do to society if we aired out those tiktok brains for a few, and all went for a walk without phones, and met some real people, because screens have made everyone anonymous and that anonymity makes humans unspeakably cruel to each other. People need to re-learn their basic preschool manners do's and don'ts.

  9. I was fine with so many of these meals being five minutes +. I realize the title is a little misleading in that five minutes is only the prep of the ingredients when you already have it all out on your counter and you aren't counting cleaning or time spent prepping grills etc.

I did however get triggered making the cabbage and pork dish (which I will be trying) work by not washing the rice????!!? Just take the extra minute to wash the rice and call this video seven minute dinner system! If you had called it the seven minute system you also could have added in the time that happens after the cooking in ever recipe too.

  10. Im not sure why anyones suprised, I dislike it too but be real. How well would a video that says "easy 45 to 90 minute prep" do?

  11. love the last one. I do the same we call it 'pane e salsiccia' here in italy, is a piece of bread thick like 3 cm with a lot of sausage mix and a bacon rolled on top of it, place some rosemarin, garlic on the bottom side of the bread…. AMAZING!

  12. I like the concept of brief prep earlier in the day, but I feel like you could have sold this as 15 min of prep and it would have been more realistic and still be appealing to people and make them immediately question how it was even possible.

  13. Great food! I understand “the system” and I approve!🎉 The cook needs to find time to prep. If prep only takes me five minutes, I’m a happy wife and mom!

  14. Great recipes but more like 30 minute meals: adding in the time to get the ingredients and kitchen items, wash the veggies, chop the veggies, and clean 👩‍🍳

  15. Oh mylanta, so much hate on this video, but I’m stoked to try all of these recipes! 5 minute system is an accurate name…prep is not the same concept as the time it takes to cook a meal start to finish. I for one am pumped to give these a go, especially the pita burger patties and focaccia! Will it take 5 minutes total? Of course not…but do I think most things worth eating take less than 5 minutes to make. Also…no??? How would that physically be possible?

  16. 10:07 I'd say if you got some extra of that meat mixture, have some wanton wrappers handy and make some Goyza and throw'm in the freezer. When you want something to snack on and you don't feel like making anything elaborate you can pan fry'm or deep fry'm with an ice cold beer or my Favorite a Arizona herbal tonic with seltzer. Can't beat it.

  17. What you do is amazing. However, do you give much thought to how many millions of microplastic particles you are feeding your children? Adults in the US already have an average of enough particles inside their bodies to make a plastic spoon. By the time your children are grown they are likely to have serious health problems due to what they are ingesting regularly right now. Microplastic particles are now found in brain tissue at alarming levels, in penile tissue of 80% of men with erectile disfunction and all other parts of the human body including placentas. So, those plastic bags and plastic this and plastic that are so convenient may be setting your children (not to mention yourself and your wife) up for cancers and other diseases that are practically impossible to treat. Think about it.

  18. I just spent an hour and forty-five minutes making 40 garlic chicken from scratch with egg noodles, a cucumber salad and peas & carrots. I used 3 pans, a bowl, a platter, knives, cutting boards, utensils. It was eaten in about 10 minutes and then I had to go clean all that up 😂. Yes my back hurts but the meal was fabulous, I fed my 90 yo neighbour and husband. I feel accomplished.

  19. "5 minutes dinners"…starts with 5 hours for focaccia. And you stop the timer when getting tangled in the sticky dough and adding the sausage? Mike, I love your videos…but this video was not fair. I call a do over! Even if it's 5minutes of prep…this was not 5min of prep!

  20. He said 5 min dinner SYSTEM. He never stated the meals were quick 5 min meals! I appreciate this video and for someone who also cooks for five everyday little things like these tips can save you so much time.

  21. 5 minutes are a bit unrealistic. Might take 15-20 minutes with washing the veg, cleanup and other odd tasks. Still doable.

Still, I love the recipes. Thanks!

  22. I quit trying to hurry everything in the kitchen. I enjoy the time so much more now. Prep and cooking is my ASMR now. I'll spend all day in the kitchen if I can!

  23. Only nitpick is to wash your hands after handling raw meat. The tzatziki might be flavored with extra E. coli.

    Everything else looks great!

  24. This is absolutely a record level of time investment vs flavor output. I haven't tasted these yet, but given a bit of experience with a lot of these ingredients, I can already imagine them being really good.

Great stuff, more or less the ideal content for this channel, if I may say so. I absolutely love the high-fidelity camera shots and simple and effective narration. Well done Mike!

  25. The spider/ant crawling away from the veggie board at 02:03 really does speak to the fact that maybe you should spend the extra couple of minutes to wash fresh produce properly 😐

  26. Found your channel yesterday looking for a tomato fermenting video, and I've already watched 20+ of your videos, wow, amazing work
