Chef Diego Galicia, known for his work at Mixtli, is launching Filleman House on San Antonio’s near east side this fall.
SAN ANTONIO — One of the chefs from the award-winning San Antonio favorite, Mixtli, will soon be opening his own restaurant on the historic east side of San Antonio.
Chef Diego Galicia announced his first solo project Thursday. The new restaurant will be called Filleman House, which is opening this fall in the Government Hill neighborhood.

The restaurant will be set inside a historic 1910 home and offer a seasonal menu inspired by the chef’s own travel experiences and memories. Some of the dishes will include prime rib, classic steak au poivre, a dry-aged burger and oysters.
“Filleman House is the restaurant I’ve always craved to create,” said Galicia. “After years of telling the stories of Mexico through Mixtli, I wanted to build something that reflects another part of who I am, not just as a chef, but as a diner. It’s the kind of place I want to eat in every day.”
Chef Galicia has led Mixtli to receive national recognition, including the coveted Michelin Star. The restaurant has also received several James Beard Award semifinalist and finalists nominations.
In addition to the unique culinary offerings, the bar will offer a curated cocktail menu and even include some zero-proof options. It will be led by Beverage Director Lauren Beckman, who received the 2024 Michelin Guide Texas Service Award. The team also includes Art Director Linda Romero — currently art director at Pullman Market and formerly part of the creative teams behind Hotel Emma.
Filleman House will be located at 517 E. Grayson St., San Antonio, TX 78215. Reservations will be available via OpenTable soon.
