For the last few months, Salute Taverna in Taylor has been working on changing its menu, including bringing in a new chef.

The eatery on Goddard near Pardee got its start in November 2019, boasting Italian favorites with “old world charm.” On Thursday, Oct. 1, it marked a grand reopening of the neighborhood spot.

Owner Donna Ficaj told the Free Press that Corey Zinberg joins as the restaurant’s new chef. Ficaj said they’ve revamped the menu with new dishes while keeping some house favorites.

Zinberg is an industry veteran with metro Detroit culinary roots who began working for the legendary Larco’s Italian restaurant in Southfield as well as at Andiamo restaurants.

Ficaj’s mantra is a farm-to-table experience with a scratch menu of classic Italian favorites in a neighborhood setting.
