James Martin’s long-running restaurant at Manchester235 has ceased trading after more than a decade, bringing an end to a partnership that began in 2012.
The venue, based inside Manchester235 Casino in the city’s Great Northern Warehouse, had become one of Manchester’s best-known celebrity chef restaurants, serving British-inspired menus, tasting experiences and afternoon teas.
An email sent to customers confirmed the closure, stating: “After a successful partnership spanning more than a decade, Metropolitan Gaming and James Martin have mutually agreed to conclude their restaurant partnership at Manchester235 on October 1, 2026.”
Customers with future reservations were told their bookings would no longer be able to go ahead, while refunds were offered for affected diners.
The message added: “Since opening in 2012, James Martin Manchester has played an important role in Manchester235 and the city’s food and beverage scene, creating memorable dining experiences, hosting exceptional events, and welcoming guests for countless special occasions.
“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and grateful to James and his team for the creativity, passion, and commitment they have brought to the restaurant throughout our partnership.”
Metropolitan Gaming also thanked Mr Martin and his team for their contribution over the years.
Despite the Manchester closure, Mr Martin continues to operate restaurants elsewhere, including The Lygon Arms in Broadway, a popular Cotswolds destination just over the Oxfordshire border.
The television chef remains a familiar face to viewers through ITV’s James Martin’s Saturday Morning, while he has also made several appearances at food festivals and events across the region over the years.
Mr Martin, 54, is one of Britain’s best-known chefs, having previously presented BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen before launching a successful career on ITV.
