Christmas Tricolor Rice Krispie Treats

Here’s a a festive twist on how to do your next batch of Rice Krispie treats for Christmas! Three different colors randomly layered to create this kinda camo, kinda marbled, kind tie-dye-but-not-really effect. Just a little something to make boring treats more fun!

What you’ll need:
6 Tbsp butter or margarine, divided
6 cups mini marshmallows, divided
7-1/2 cups Rice Krispies, divided
red and green food coloring

In 3 separate large bowls, put 2 Tbsp butter or margarine in each. Microwave each for 30 seconds or until melted. Add 2 cups mini marshmallows into each bowl. Microwave each for 1 minute or until marshmallows are puffed up and soft. Color one green using three drops Americolor gel paste food coloring in Leaf Green. The second one using 4-5 drops red Americolor gel paste in Super Red and the third, leave plain. Add 2-1/2 cups Rice Krispie Cereal to each and mix until very well combined. Spray a 9″x13″ (or 9″x9″ for thick treats) baking dish or pan with nonstick spray. Using a spoon or your hands (making sure to keep them wet so the mixture doesn’t stick to them), and working back and forth between all colors, ‘sprinkle’ the mixture into the pan until all 3 colors have been used. Then with a wet hand, press mixture down to compress the treats and get rid of air pockets and bubbles. Let cool completely and then cut into squares. Enjoy!!
