Bobby Flay’s new show features his hand-picked team competing against restaurant staffs to execute high-pressure dinner services

Bobby Flay is facing off with restaurant staffs across the country.
Food Network’s new series Bobby Flay’s The Line will feature Flay competing with a team of hand-picked chefs against restaurant staffs nationwide to execute a dinner service for real customers, per a July 28 news release shared with PEOPLE.
In the show, Flay will lead his team of chefs Antonia Lofaso, Michael Jenkins and Claudette Zepeda against various acclaimed restaurant staffs around the country to “execute a flawless dinner service” for real customers in real time.
After diners and “VIP guests” rate each course, the teams can “pivot their strategy” for the next one, per the release.
“I consider The Line the project that Food Network audiences have been waiting for – it combines high-end restaurant cooking, exhilarating competition and behind-the-scenes moments in real time,” Flay said in the release.

“It’s how the restaurants that we run work – and sometimes don’t,” he added. “The Line is a real-life kitchen rollercoaster that the viewer will want to be strapped in for. Seat belts everyone – the kitchen is open!”
“In restaurant kitchens around the world, elite chefs must work as a team every night to perfectly execute their dishes under intense pressure,” the release says, adding that in the show, Flay “pulls back the curtain on the high-stakes reality of working on a restaurant line.”
A spokesperson for Food Network added that the new show offers a look at “the pressure, teamwork and precision that define restaurant service.”
If the visiting restaurant team wins, they get $25,000, while Flay’s team will simply maintain their reputation if they triumph.
The first episode of the high-stakes show will feature Marcus Samuelsson surprising Flay by joining his restaurant Hav & Mar’s team alongside his executive chef Fariyal Abdullahi.
The episode will put the teams against each other in “a global seafood battle,” the release said.
“Unexpected problems force the chefs to improvise to get all their dishes out – but only one line overcomes the obstacles to capture the win,” the release added.
Future episodes of the show will include Leah Cohen from Pig and Khao, Spike Mendelsohn from Good Stuff Eatery, Jonathan Sawyer from Kindling and more, per the release.
Bobby Flay’s The Line premieres Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. ET on Food Network and streams the following day on HBO Max.
Fans can follow along on Food Network’s social media accounts using #TheLine, which will show behind-the-scenes action, teach restaurant slang, show tours of the kitchen with Lofaso and allow fans to hear from visiting teams.
The release also noted that one of Flay’s other shows, Bobby’s Triple Threat, will return with season five on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Bobby Flay’s The Line may be the show that Flay teased in an episode of Bobby on the Beat on Monday, April 13.
“I can’t really tell you what it is, but it’s going to be, I think, the quintessential Food Network show,” he said. “It’s going to have some sort of professional cooking environment in it, for sure. I think it’s going to answer a lot of questions of how do you do your job, so to speak, when it comes to chefs and cooks in the restaurant business.”
He said the show was in the works for a while.
