Rubato, the popular Hong-Kong-style café in Quincy, will soon be open for dinner by popular demand, celebrity chef and owner Laurence Louie said.

Starting Oct. 9, the restaurant will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Currently, the restaurant closes at 4 p.m.

Dinner-time fried chicken bolos coming right up!

Louie is a Chinese-American chef who has competed on “Top Chef,” has been a James Beard Award semifinalist, and was a champion on “Chopped.”

The celebrity status may get people through the door, but dishes like steamed cha siu pork baos and Hong Kong French toast filled with salted duck egg custard keeps them coming back for more.

Louie said the restaurant will also expand its menu next month. He said some new dishes include Cha Siu claypot rice, which is crispy-bottom rice bowl topped with BBQ pork belly, egg yolk and Chinese choy, as well as a fried fish filet bao with a chili crisp steamed bao and house tasty sauce.

Rubato is located at 412 Hancock St. in Quincy.
